Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She won several awards like an Oscar for the movie Piano. The path to acting began on Broadway with a variety of Broadway as well as Off Broadway productions. From the time she was a child, she has been passionate about acting. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. She was born deaf in the one ear after suffering from Mumps, but she didn't permit this to deter her desire to be an actor. In her teens she studied drama, before moving in New York City. Through a random encounter, she was stuck in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which made Hunter's debut. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. Her first film role was as an actress supporting the leading character Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in numerous films and television series and movies over a career spanning over three decades. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actress and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
